The Benefits of Lymphatic Drainage

The Lymphatic System and Lymphatic Drainage, in general, are having a massive moment in the wellness world and for a good reason. I am OBSESSED with the lymphatic system and think it is essential for us to take care of our lymph health.

In this blog post, I will give a rundown on what the lymphatic system is, what lymphatic Drainage is, the lifestyle factors that affect our lymphatic system, and ways to get the benefits of lymphatic Drainage at home.

What is the Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is a network of tissues, vessels and organs that work together to move a colourless, watery fluid called lymph back into your circulatory system (your bloodstream). The lymphatic system is part of your immune system that regulates fluid levels in the body.

What is Lymphatic Drainage?

Lymphatic Drainage moves the lymph (a clear fluid that moves through your body's tissues and arteries to clean them before draining through the lymphatic system) to the lymph nodes ( located in your neck/ collarbone region, armpits and groin). The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from the body tissues.

How To Keep Your Lymphatic System Healthy

  • Avoid exposure to toxic chemicals like those in pesticides or cleaning products. These chemicals can build up in your system and make it harder for your body to filter waste (eat organic & use non-toxic cleaning & personal products)

  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated so the lymph can move easily through your body

  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise to flush your lymphatic system. In addition, the more you move your body, the better your circulation and lymphatic flow will be.

  • Get enough sleep. Optimal sleep is the best way to cleanse your lymphatic and glymphatic system, regulate hormones and control fat storage.
