My Movement Story

Going into a fresh New Year & I thought It'd be a great time to share my movement journey and how I got into this field of work.

If you're new on this journey, I'm Kaila— a Certified Pilates Instructor passionate about supporting women in their movement journey and inspiring them to see exercise as a form of self-love, not self-punishment. In today's blog post, I will share a little more about my story, specifically my movement journey and how I got to where I am today.

When it comes to movement, I used to be the person that believed the only way to see results was by going to extremes. Extremes in the gym- I thought that doing an hour of cardio and an hour of weight training every day was the only way I would see results.

When it comes to nutrition, I was extreme with my diet (counting macros, removing entire food groups and punishing myself when I didn't follow this restrictive diet) after years of trying countless workouts and diets that stressed my body mentally and physically, with no results to show for it I got to the place where I realized something HAD to change.

After suffering from severe hormonal issues and several injuries, I was encouraged to seek forms of exercise that were challenging but restorative. I found Pilates, and over the past six years, I have become obsessed with its ability to completely change my body's functionality and composition while grounding, healing, and centring me.

Pilates has completely transformed my life and helped me connect with my body much deeper, allowing me to see movement as a form of self-love, not self-punishment. Living a healthy, active lifestyle is not about extremes, quick- fixes and trying every new trend that pops up, but instead is about finding balance in your life and focusing on sustainability and consistency through movement, food and lifestyle.
