Consistency Is The Key to Results

I've been thinking a lot about the theme of consistency recently because it should be no surprise that consistency is the driver of success and getting you towards the goals you want to achieve.

In this post, I will highlight why consistency is the key to getting results and having an all-or-nothing mindset sets you back more than you think.

I used to have a very all-or-nothing mindset regarding fitness and nutrition. I believed a workout wasn't effective if it wasn't 60 minutes long, involved high-intensity exercises and left me feeling sore for days afterwards. What I have realized over the past three years, as a result of scaling back my workouts and committing to Pilates and LIIS (low impact steady state cardio), is that the small actions you take every day get you closer to your goal, not the extreme actions.

I have seen better results with Pilates and Walking than any other form of exercise, both physically and mentally. I feel calm, centred and grounded in my body, which shows how I show up in the world.

I've learned that although the movements I teach on The KM Method may seem small when practiced daily, we get stronger, more mobile and confident in our bodies but consistency is key.

The KM Method focuses on targeted, specific movements that activate muscles quickly—doing these exercises are an effective and efficient way to fatigue your muscles in just a few sequences. We build strength in our muscles through slow, consistent and intentional movements, using low weights, resistance and high repetitions. The benefit of staying consistent with this way of exercise is enhancing overall movement patterns, correcting your alignment, and improving your posture and alignment during movements.

Consistency will not only create lasting results for your body and mind but it also creates a routine that you can follow. So, as we enter a new season, I invite you to make 30 minutes of movement your daily non-negotiable. I promise that you will feel more energized and proud of yourself for creating healthier habits in your everyday life.

Accountability, discipline and responsibility are all parts of staying consistent. Here are my top 3 tips for staying consistent

1. Accountability

  • Find something/ someone that will keep you accountable for the goals you have set. Whether it be doing your workout with a friend, paying for a subscription/ class or sharing with someone you love and trust what you are working towards, you can be held accountable if you start to get off track.

TIP- My favourite way to be held accountable is having a common goal with a friend & doing it together!

2. Plan Ahead

  • Plan your workouts the week before to take the guesswork out of your day. Add it to your calendar and consider it a meeting with the version of yourself you want to be.

3. Remember Your Why

  • This is so important. Goals without a clear why & action plan are just visions- you need to ground into WHY you are committing to a new goal.

Results happen over time, not overnight. Therefore, it is essential to stay consistent and patient. It's so important to remember that you don't have to be extreme with your health and wellness. You have to be consistent. I hope this article was helpful and you found some inspiration to keep you consistent.
